Privacy Policy for East Lumenz Apps

Effective Date: 08/29/2026

Developer: East Lumenz

East Lumenz ("we," "our," or "us") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information across all of our applications ("Apps"), including Wild Steps, BabyPlay, Word Golf, and future apps we develop and publish. It also covers our web-based games, including Word Golf at play.eastlumenz.com.

1. Information We Collect

Across our apps, we strive to collect as little data as possible:

Minimal personal information: We do not collect your phone number, and most of our apps have no accounts of any kind. Word Golf is the exception: it stores a display name you choose and, if you opt in, a Google account identifier. See Section 8 for details.

Device permissions: Some apps may request specific permissions (such as activity recognition, notifications, or location) depending on the core functionality of the app.

App-specific data: Details are provided in the sections below for each app.

2. How We Use Information

Information collected through permissions (such as step counts or notifications) is used only to provide app features and gameplay.

For Word Golf, the text you submit is processed to run the game and is stored so your scores and leaderboard placement can be recorded.

We do not sell your information.

Some apps may display ads through third-party providers like Google AdMob or Google AdSense, which may collect data to serve personalized or non-personalized ads.

3. Third-Party Services

Some of our apps use third-party services that may collect information. These services are listed per app in Section 8.

Google AdMob (advertising), used in Wild Steps: https://policies.google.com/privacy

Anthropic (AI model processing), used in Word Golf: https://www.anthropic.com/legal/privacy

Cloudflare (hosting and database), used in Word Golf: https://www.cloudflare.com/privacypolicy/

Google Sign-In (optional account recovery) and Google AdSense (advertising), used in Word Golf: https://policies.google.com/privacy

BabyPlay uses no third-party services. It contains no advertising, no analytics, and no third-party SDKs of any kind.

4. Data Storage & Retention

For most of our apps, data (such as gameplay progress, step counts, or unlocked items) is stored locally on your device, is retained only as long as the app is installed, and is deleted when you delete the app.

Word Golf is different. Because it has shared leaderboards, some data is stored on our servers rather than only on your device. Uninstalling the app or clearing your browser will disconnect your device from that data but will not remove it from the leaderboard. See Section 7 for how to request deletion.

5. Children's Privacy

Most of our apps are designed for a general audience and are not directed to children under 13. Word Golf is a general-audience game and is not directed to children under 13.

BabyPlay is an exception: it is designed specifically for young children and is a child-directed app under Google Play's Families policy and COPPA.

BabyPlay collects no personal information of any kind. It does not create accounts, does not connect to the internet, contains no advertising, and transmits no data off the device. All settings are stored locally on the device and are removed when the app is uninstalled.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children in any of our apps.

6. International Users

Our apps may be downloaded and played globally, including in regions with special privacy laws (such as GDPR in the EU or CCPA in California). We minimize data collection and provide users control by allowing them to delete data by uninstalling the app, and by request for server-stored data.

Where required by law, including in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom, you will be asked for consent before personalized ads are shown, and you can change or withdraw that choice at any time.

7. Your Choices

You can manage app permissions (e.g., notifications, activity tracking) through your device settings.

For apps that store data only on your device, you can delete all stored data at any time by uninstalling the app.

For Word Golf, you can request deletion of your scores, prompts, and display name by emailing us at admin@eastlumenz.com. Because Word Golf has no password-based accounts, we may ask you to confirm the request from the same device or Google account so we can verify the name is yours.

You can opt out of personalized advertising through Google's Ads Settings at adssettings.google.com, and opt out of third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising at aboutads.info/choices.

8. App-Specific Privacy Details

Wild Steps

Data collected: Step counts via your device's built-in pedometer (Activity Recognition permission).

Usage: Step counts are used to drive the core game loop (unlocking animals, tracking progress).

Notifications: The app may send reminders or updates about progress.

Ads: The app uses Google AdMob for ads. AdMob may collect device identifiers and usage data to serve ads.

Storage: Step data and progress are stored locally on your device.

BabyPlay

Data collected: None. BabyPlay does not collect, transmit, or share any data.

Permissions: BabyPlay requests no runtime permissions.

Internet: BabyPlay does not connect to the internet.

Ads: BabyPlay contains no advertising and no third-party SDKs.

Analytics: BabyPlay contains no analytics or tracking of any kind.

Storage: Preferences such as sound, brush size, and language are stored locally on your device and are deleted when the app is uninstalled.

Screen pinning: BabyPlay can lock itself to the screen using Android's built-in screen pinning. This is a device feature and involves no data collection.

Word Golf

Word Golf is a daily word game available as an Android app and on the web at play.eastlumenz.com. It is the only one of our apps that stores data on a server, because scores are compared on shared leaderboards.

No account required: There is no sign-up, no password, and no email address needed to play. We never ask for your real name, phone number, or date of birth.

Player ID: The first time you open Word Golf, the game creates a random identifier and stores it on your device, in your browser's local storage on the web or in app storage on Android. It is not linked to your email or any other service. It exists so your scores are recognized when you return. This ID is specific to the device and browser you use, so playing on a phone and a laptop is treated as two different players unless you sign in.

Display name: You choose this yourself the first time you play. It appears on public leaderboards, so pick something you are comfortable with strangers seeing. Do not use your full legal name or anything you would rather keep private.

Optional Google sign-in: You may sign in with Google so your scores follow you to another browser or device. If you do, we store the account identifier Google provides and link it to your player ID. We do not store your Google password, and we do not use your Google account for anything other than recognizing you as a returning player. Playing as a guest without signing in is always available.

Prompts and scores: We store the text of every prompt you submit, along with its character count, which puzzle it was for, the model's reply, and when you played. This includes prompts the game rejects. We keep this to run the game, to enforce the attempt limit, and to improve the rules — for example, finding cases where the game wrongly rejects a legitimate word. We keep your best solve for each puzzle separately.

Public information: The only things other players can see are your display name and your score. The text of your prompts is never shown to anyone else — not on leaderboards, and not after a puzzle closes. We do store your prompts, and we can read them, so it is still best not to put anything personal into one.

AI processing: The object of the game is to make an AI model reply with a target word. To do this, we send your prompt to Anthropic's Claude API, which returns a short response we show you. Your prompt text leaves our servers and is processed by Anthropic. We send only the prompt itself, never your player ID, display name, or any other identifying information. Anthropic's handling of that data is governed by their own privacy policy and API terms. We cache model responses, so a prompt someone else has already tried may be answered from our cache without being sent onward.

Technical information: Like any website or online service, our servers process the request data needed to deliver the game, including IP address. We do not build advertising profiles from it.

Ads: Word Golf may show ads served by Google and its partners. Google and third-party vendors use cookies and similar technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. See Section 7 for how to opt out.

Storage: Game data is stored on Cloudflare infrastructure, using Cloudflare Workers and a Cloudflare D1 database.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Updates will be posted on this page with a revised effective date.
